Hi there,

I was trying to figure out how to activate the Handsfree Mute feature on a Nortel Meridian M7208. Simple 5 line phone network setup. When I plug in the Headset it says "Need Handsfree" My version on the phone is 30DAG02

This is how my menu is setup

A. Configuration
Line Data
Line Access
Call Handling
Misc.
Background Music: Y
Dial-0 Set: 21
Link Time: 600
Set Relocation:Y
Line Pool Codes
Installer Pswd:
Change Dns
B General Admin
Sys. Speed dial
Names
Time and Date
Restrictions
Overrides
Permissions
Night Service
Passwords
C Set Copy
D System Version

It would be appreciated if you can help me out. I'm guessing its really simple but thats just a guess lol. Thanks for your time

Well, seeing as you're a fellow Canuck I guess I can help you out!

Go to B. General Admin
Then Capabilities
Then Set #.
Handsfree should be in there somewhere (Set it to AUTO if you have the option)

There's also a chance that it's under Line Access in the Configuration Area.

thanks for the reply! nice to see some other canadians on the board hehe.

Unfortunetly the only options I have under B. General Admin are as follows

Sys. Speed dial
Names
Time and Date
Restrictions
Overrides
Permissions
Night Service
Passwords

Is there a way to update the software on the phone? It seems like this answer helps other people and my phone seems out of date since i don't have that many option

Would it be okay if you gave me your phone number to call you or if you could call our toll free 800 number? not sure how private messaging works on these boards but if you want you could e-mail me thanks for your time for the help

edited to remove email address at the request of the OP.
