I need to know how to copy extension settings from one extension to an additional/new extension being added. It is a Norstar plus ICS, release .02. Any help is appreciated.

In installer programming go to terminals & sets. Bring up the set that you want to copy. Press the copy softkey.
A word of caution on making copies. Most of the time, if you copy to a phone that is not plugged in, it doesn't copy. If you copy a range of numbers then it may give you the option to copy to phones not plugged in. Most of the time that will work but check it out. Also, on the later softwares, if you are at the DN and it says copy, you really don't copy everything. You need to go to EACH heading (Lines, Capability, User Preference, Restrictions, Telco) and copy again (Copy here, copy there, over and over and over again) then it will copy for THAT info (heading) only. Also if you copy in the lines area of information and are using target lines, then you destroy the target line set up and make every phone have the same target line. Then you have to go back to EVERY extension anyway and fix the target line info. Nortel needs to option their copy so that it will also populate as well as identical copy.
If you copy a set and it is not plugged in, everything copies across to that set with the exception of the buttons. The system is awaiting a set type and will not program buttons across until the set in connected. In order to make an identical copy just make sure both sets are plugged in. NT, what software are you talking about on having to copy each heading? If you bring up T&S and it shows the DN just Copy and it takes everything across to the new set. As for older software, you Can just go to the Set Copy heading.
Actually when copying to a port that has no set plugged in, the port defaults to 7208. you can force the port to a different set type in "user preferences" and then do a system+data copy to that DN. You will copy everything except set name to that port even if no set plugged. But you must copy same set types.
I actually have never done any programming on a Norstar system. Could someone be so kind as to tell me step by step what to do to copy that programming..the phone set is already plugged into the extension being copied and copied too. Although I do not know how to get into programming or any of the setup.
No passwords or proprietory information is given out in this public forum.

You can find all passwords in the installer's guide that came with your telephone system.

The end user does not have the manuals, nor do I have any manuals for this system. I am only familiar with Vodavi Starplus STS and Avaya Partner Systems. Could someone perhaps email me privatley and let me know?

Thanks
You can get the manuals from this web site.
Every system comes with a set of manuals. If you or your end user do not have them, I suggest you buy them and start reading if you wish to provide support for on Nortel products.

I did purchase the manual and got the programming done I needed..thanks for everyones help!
