Here is a fun question I hope somebody knows an answer on.

We have a BCM 400 and we are in the process adding a BCM50 in a satelite office. We think we will add in the future a couple more .. so it is kinda crucial we figure it out..

Our BCM50 is located in our satelite office .. using a network range of 192.168.10.X

Our BCM400 is located in our HQ and uses IP range 192.168.5.X (mask 255.255.255.0)

normally it would be a dream, though when building the network we had decided to make it a fun network and put our default gate way not on 192.168.5.1 but on 192.168.5.2

How can we convince the BCM400 to look to the 192.168.5.2 IP address and not try to go to 192.168.5.1.

We have tried the next hope gate way, but doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions or ideas ?? Would be great!

The next hop router definition is the same meaning as default gateway. No reason it shouldn't work. Did you reboot after the change?

Sorry never posted the solution. The name give to the BCM was taken. Somehow we used the same netBIOS name for an other device as the BCM. This caused the BCM to shutdown some basic networking and one of the parts was the next hop part.

Once we change the netBIOS name, rebooted the BCM we were back in business and could reach cross network our other BCM unit.
