In the past, on other systems, you had to be careful with the last 3 digits of a DID conflicting with a Numbering Plan.

I service a lot of Norstar DID equipped systems, but am in the midst of a clients ordering process for an upgrade. Adding T1/PRI and DID's.
MICS, 6.1, PRI

I want to be cautious.

Can the Norstar receive 0 & 1 (9 ?) as a first digit of the 3 being sent.
The client bought a bank of 100 DID's ending in 200 but in a new area code....cool.
But they want to convert some 1mb's to DID because of Area Code. (new area code is not popular)
is their an issue with, as example:
213 393 0023 and/or 213 393-9072

I was just set up for 3 digit Dn and receive 3 digit.
My brother said when I see the 023 just send it to the Target Line and put that on the Ext.\
that would be great.....I am just a little antsy.

Any ideas?

First off i suggest to have the carrier send 7 or more digits in this case to avoid the issue.

If for some reason you cant, the carrier needs to be told to hide the 9 and they will do so for you.

Curlycord

So your saying there IS a conflict?

The Norstar won't accept, say, 023 ?
(MICS, 6.1, PRI)

I think you can, bottom line is no Routing or Access codes and I think Park codes.

Curly

Thanks

I am going to have them send 7

I would certainly want to keep future codes and park open.

Can I ask....does receiving all seven vs. 4 - 6
change anything Else?

The few Norstars with DID's I have receive 3-5 digits.

Why don't installers receive all 7 from day one?
Or, is it, case by case, the 1st received digit is the culprit....meaning causing conflict.?
ex:

234-0920
4 didit Rec + 0
3 digit Rec = 9
5 digit a 4....a good mix
or
230 9200
5 digit bad
4 digit bad
3 digit good

Am I getting it?
(these ?? might help others to understand, as other systems Automatically deliver the DID to the Station....NorSTAR wants a Target Line)

No other programming with 7 digits versus 3?
I am about to confirm the order.

THANKS

Quote
234-0920
4 didit Rec + 0
3 digit Rec = 9
5 digit a 4....a good mix
or
230 9200
5 digit bad
4 digit bad
3 digit good
Correct

Every case diff yes.

Change Recieved Digits to 7 in Dialing Plan programming then of course the 7 digit # in each target line.

Send Seven, Receive Three,....PERFECT.

Although you need some faith. After I checked and rechecked, then freaked out, I realized the missing player was the provider......
They weren't sending Seven Digits.....
