Hi all. Customer got notice from thir phone company someone was outdialing to international locations. I changed admin mailbox password, changed outdial to NONE on all mailboxes. My concern is there may be mailboxes I have missed checking. is there a systemwide setting to restrict all outdialing?
put restrictions on all of the NAM ports
Enable network transfers should be set to NO.
russell4444,
What are you talking about? jsaad already gave a proper suggestion.
russell4444 may have meant Outbound Transfer. That is also used for Toll Fraud.
yes outbound transfer set to N is a good good idea.
If you restrict all NAM ports from Outbound access (what actually is the proper way of doing) it would be no Transfer allowed except Internal one.
ITAS TIP 315 Dec 2004
Blocking toll fraud in BCM, Call Pilot, and Norstar Voicemail.
In Norstar Voicemail 4.1 Enable Network Transfers is Yes by default.
There was a patch issued to allow this to be turned off.
That is what I was talking about VAD60!
They get in by mail box with weak, or no password. Then sit up outbound tranfer to a foriegn land on that mail box. Hang up and call the mail box back, then press 7 and out they go.
I've been to 5 sites where they had recieved serveral thousand dollars worth the toll fraud and the FBI was invovled because of 911 aftermath these calls were being directed towards middle eastern nations.
