I have a customer that has phones in public areas and they would like to route 911 calls from those phones to a manned answering position. This is a mental hospital and apparently they are having a problem with the patients calling 911. Any suggestions?
What type of system? How many digits in the extensions?
MICS 7.0 XC with PRI, 3 digits.
Off hand maybe through routing but I doubt it. I don't remember you being able to route a call to an internal number.
Suggestions:
a) Why not restrict 911 from the patient's phones? Just leave it available for office staff, nurses, etc, maybe with a COS.
b) designate a internal speed dial button on each phone marked clearly as 911, but send it to the extension that you want
c) a combination of "a" & "b". Restrict the "Exterior 911" (staff can use a COS password bypass) AND use an internal speed dial button.
If the patients press the "911" button, it'll do what you want.
