Have a customer who has a MICS w/ Release 1 T1 software and an Application Module II for voicemail. They have 9 analog POTS lines on the system. These 9 lines all appear & ring at the receptionist phone, 221. They want a backup receptionist, ext. 284, to take the calls if 221 does not answer. If no one at 284 answers, calls are to go to the general delivery mailbox.

Here is what is programmed: 221 has CFNA set to 284 after 3 rings. 284 has CFNA and CFB set to ext. 249 (which is the DN for voicemail). Problem is, ext. 284 has a personal mailbox and the calls are going to the personal mailbox instead of going to the general delivery mailbox. If I leave the programming as is and delete the mailbox for 284 the calls then go to the general delivery box as desired. However, 284 is in need of a personal mailbox. What would you suggest be done differently to remedy this situation?

Place an ANS DN button on ext 284 for 221 & remove the CFNA from 221.

Thanks for the info MooreTel, I will look into that suggestions. One question though, how will the call flow to the Gen Delivery Mailbox if the call goes unanswered at 284?

If ext 221 is programmed as the set for GD, that's where it'll go.

284 is like having a 2nd phone in your home. It'll ring every time that 221 rings. As long as CFNA is programmed to a higher number of rings on 284, there won't be a problem.

That is part of the problem I am having, the ext. 284 is not suppose to ring unless 221 does not answer the call or is busy. All lines on 284 (which is located in a multi-employee cubicle type area) are set to appear only.

I greatly appreciate your input MooreTel and may end up talking the customer into that route.
