Is the speakerphone function on the T7316 optional? We have a customer with a CICS that we moved recently and they claim that two new extensions that we added don't work on speakerphone. Actually, they claim that they don't work on the handset either, but I don't believe that.

Is this something that needs to be activated in programming?

Look in set, capabilities.

Ed, if the handsets aren't working, check the cord, handset itself, or they're plugged into the headset RJ jack.

Sorry, couldn't resis. laugh

Do you know what version of software is in the CICS? If it is old software, the 7316 will be emulating a 7310 phone and one of the feature keys would have to be setup as a handsfree (speakerphone) key.

The bottom right one actually. It's already there if you programmed it to have handsfree.

That is true MooreTel.

It turns out that the speaker is working, just not the microphone (works as a monitor only). Is this still a programming issue?

Not programming. Are you sure they didn't hit the Handsfree button twice, thus "Muting" the speaker? Try another set?

Hands free available on all Norstar sets except M7100 and T7100's.

Hands free must be programmed under sets capabilities.

T7316 - programs Hands free button to lower right side, very last key under Intercoms keys.
Will acts as an M7310 on any software

T7316e - has a hard hands free and head set and mute keys at bottom of phone.
-Will act as an M7310 on software lower than 6.1.
-6.1 required for full functionality such as the different icons on lower displays.

Yes, check to make sure that Handsfree didn't get muted. If the indicator light next to the handsfree button is flashing, then it is muted. If it is solid, then it is simply a microphone issue. Replace the set and you should be good to go.

Yes that is true. Speakers will always work. But you have to program Handsfree.
I believe that NO handsfree is the default.
Speaker will always work.

It turned out to be that the hole for the mic was clogged with dust. The speakerphone function worked (we had it programmed correctly in terminals/sets/capabilities, but it just wasn't as good as they expected. I blew it out with canned air and it worked just fine.

It is pretty sad that I had to jump through so many hoops with issues for a customer with existing sets. Obviously, they didn't have a very tidy office at their prior location. Thanks for all of the help here as usual.
