Is there any way to connect music on-hold to this system?

yes there should be a MOH on the system right under the paging RCA plug, you will need a mini plugthe KSU side

With MOH plugged in and turned on, how do you get background music to turn OFF on the phones?

While the phone on-hook, press 1
