I would like to DIL to a voice mail box without an extension. I have looked at the programming manual and it doesn't look like that is a programming option.

Does anyone know a way to accomplish this? As a work around I could DIL to an unused extension and FWD to the voicemail box. But I don't want to leave a phone connected to the extension. I tried this setup on a KXTD308 and it worked fine. But unplugging the phone disabled the setup.

I would hate to have to resort to shorting the extensions tip and ring or something. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

What voicemail are you using?
Do you want a specific CO line to directly to a mailbox? OR are all lines answered by the A/A?
If answered by A/A and you use custom menu then no problem. If you don't want to use the custom greeting or A/A then have only that line DIL 1-1 to the A/A or custom menu with a Sec. of silence recorded as the main greeting and no dtmf input transfer to the mailbox in question. Then just put he greeting in that mailbox. It dependends on what voicemail your using and the version. the later TVS units have dirct trunk assignmentwhich makes it easy to have a specific greeting for a specific line.

Sorry about that. It's a TVS50. Is truck assignment an option? Either way, I don't think they would be wise to dedicate half their TVS to one sales associate.

The system is answered by AA and it is working fine. I am now trying to DIL one CO to existing mailbox 200. MB 200 doesn't have an extension. She is outside sales and checks her messages remotely.

I would be happy to point an unused extension at this VMB which I think would solve my problem but again,,, I don't want to leave a phone connected to the extension.

I have never worked on a TA but you might be able to get it to work by using an unused extension and turning on Paralleled Telephone Connection. That might not require a phone hooked at that ext. Gemini can probably tell you for sure.

Parallel won't help about the tel set. The DIL to mail box 200 should work just fine in the 50 --- either in the Trk Gp or under DIL 1:1 to ext. That's in the 400 group of programs. The default VM ext is 165 --- it has no physical ext set.

So you have a CO line that is dedicated to a person who does not have a phone.
Is this correct?
Use the XDP port of an extension.
Get rid of mailbox 200. that would be for a phantom extension or if your using flexible numbering. There doesn't seem to be a need for anyone calling to have or know an extension number.
Lets say you set up XDP on port 01, have that CO line DIL 1-1, (program 407-408) go to Ext. 201.
set up a mailbox for 201 and then use a SLT or your butt set at the 66 block on the MDF to forward all calls on Ext. 201 to voicemail.
You can evan have external message notification set up to call a phone or pager.

A bunch of good ideas guys, thanks!

So will setting DIL 1:1 extension number to a mailbox without an extension work? Since the only option was to enter an ext. number, not a VMB number I figured it wouldn't be possible. And even then it sounds like I will still need a telephone plugged in for this to work?

KLD, There is a Trunk Grp setting that would point a CO to a VMB similar to the way DIL works?

MrGemini, It's a KXTA so I guess the XDP thing is out. But I am not against changing her VMB number to something else.
And yes, this is a CO line that is dedicated to a person who does not have a phone. I could even give her an available extension, but leaving a phone plugged in somewhere for FWD'ing to work would be a poor solution.
