Hi all!

I have a problem with a Panasonic KX-TDA200 system.
The system is connected with a pc through the serial port. When I try to read calling infos from the port the phone system returns some invalid characters. However the output does contain some regular character repetitions.
The phone system was restarted but the problem is the same.

One output example (unsure how this will appear on the page)

It sounds like the parity or stop bits are wrong.
The tda 200 is set as

Baud rate :19200
Parity bit: None
Flow control: None
NL code : CR + LF
Word length : 8 bits
Stop bit : 1 bit

You can change this in the maintenance tool

If set up as above it should work fine
try installing a null modem adapter on cable plus make sure you have your baud rate matched with tda and other parameters set right in hyperterminal no flow control

dtx i am romanian american grandparents from old country!!
he ken your awake!
Just about, looks like I just got in before you.
I have a feeling some of the posters here
are trying to connect a parallel printer
to the db-9
Hi

I've tried the folowing settings:

Baud rate :9600
Parity bit: None
Flow control: None
NL code : CR + LF
Word length : 8 bits
Stop bit : 1 bit

But the output is still a mess. Can the 9600 baud setting make this difference? I guess the phone system is configured to 9600 baud since it communicates with the pc.

By maintenance tool you mean the software shipped with the phone system?
The phone system is some 50 km away from me, so I test it remotely.
i doubt you'll be able to read smdr info via modem
but i could be wrong!

Baud rate :19200
Parity bit: None
Flow control: None
NL code : CR + LF
Word length : 8 bits
Stop bit : 1 bit
IS THE DEFAULT SMDR SETTINGS
th 9600 setting on the 19200 system could cause exactly the issue you have dsecribed.
OBT and Frank_DaFoneguy were right, the 19200 baud rate setting solved the problem.

Thank you everybody fot the posts!
Sorry: county wide was right too smile
no worries
