So I have a client with a strange request.

Calls come in. Their phones ring. After 5 rings the caller hears a message "sorry we are busy please hold for the next rep" and then they are placed on hold and can hear the hold music via the BGM. Now... this is easy to do, i could just transfer them to a call distribution group after the tva-50's menu plays.. but the client doesnt want his extensions to ring again... he just wants the line to blink, as if a call is coming in (basically callers are put on hold waiting for someone to pick them up)... its strange and i thikn he'll get confused as to whos on hold after calling in, and who was just placed on hold by someone else... but its what he wants..

any ideas, without using a messaging card (we'll have a tda-50 and a tva-50)

send it to a ucd group with all the members assigned no ring or put in 6 rings so if it is not answered by 6 rings it will start the phones ringing again

as OBT says send it to a ring group with all the members assigned no ring and place a icd group button on each handset so anyone can take it when available.

Thats what i thought myself. I tried turning NO RING on one extension here at my office to test, it rang... maybe i just did something wrong was all.

Thats actually a great idea... creating an ICD button on each handset. But what if 4 callers call in... i'd need 4 seperate groups right?? I could set it to FWD if busy to another ring group.

you would only need 4 group buttons if you have 4 internal ring groups setup is that your case!!

ie caller rings in and after 5 rings they get a message
caller 2 rings in is he /she going to the same group?
caller 3 rings in are they going to the same people as first 2 callers if so then you would only require 1 icd group.
however if all going to differnt groups
601 sales
602 accounts
603 service
in this case you would 3 group buttons

Remember the flex button for the icd group would only be lit on the phone that answered the call and not on the other phones on the same group. It would flash green on an incoming group call, be steady green on the answering location, and go out on all others.

that is true however this group will only be in use as intercept location when nobody is available to answer the original call. and would be flashing on all group members buttons until someone answers it.

I got it set just fine... basically all extensions are in the group, they are just set to NO RING... and it works fine.

I kept testing it from an internal extension but when i tested it from outside, it worked like a charm.

I actually had this working before i wrote the message, but never tested it from a CO
