My technical expertise is about a 7 on a scale of 10. I bought an 824 system from a bankrupt business and was wondering if this unit is CID ready on lines 1-4. Been reading all the on line info I could come by! The installed CPC card has two eproms labeled VB-42551. Does this mean I have caller ID? Is this the same as the VB 42551 A-CID? Read somewhere that the required VB 42551 module 'mounted at the top of the cabinet'. I am referring to the card in the CPC verticle slot. I also understand that a a CPC-M card is also required for the CID to function. Where would this card/module be installed - a linked diagram would be very helpful. Thank you in advance! Welcome ReBell. welcome

The CID module does not fit in the vertical card slots. It goes above the vertical card slots and connects via ribbon cables to the KSU backplane. The CPC card comes as a CPC-S or CPC-M. This the processor card. The processor has to be an M version card in order to have CID. The diagram is in the manual.

Well I guess that screws me as far as CID - refuse to pay another $4-500 it would take. Thanks for your reply!

Yeah, the CID modules are getting harder to find for the DBS systems. They're also expensive. You could do CID outside of the system to a phone, or CID box.

Do you mean to 'tape into' the CO line ahead of the PBX and run this line to a dedicated CID box next to the phone?
