Just checking on what all has to be changed in a Panasonic to stop hackers. Had a customer get hacked. How about other systems how do they hack them this one was voicemail.
Thanks
Panasonic voice mail systems are very popular with the hackers for sure. The best thing you can do is to assign unique passwords to all mailboxes, including the message manager.
Also call barr the voicemail ports on the system by putting into class of service 7
Excellent suggestion! I forgot about that. Nobody uses outward message notification, so by disabling outbound calling on the voice mail ports, you'll defeat what the hackers are trying to get: Expensive calls to destinations in overseas countries with no telecom laws.
Unfortunately, brute force attacks can get around any password. And in most instances, if you have been hit once they will return. There is a Panasonic approved product, Control Phreak from Callista.net that has stopped hacking attacks on Panasonic systems while allowing full use of the PBX and voicemail. Price is $495 including remote installation and 24 hour support. Further information on PBX hacking is available on this website.
