I am trying to do my 1st TVA to email notification.

In System I set the Lan address with mask and gateway as a static to their system
On the Mailbox I set the SMTP server address, account, password, and SMTP ports.
Once I had all valid info both of these were accepted by the TVA.

Calls light the MWL but do not transfer to the email.

I've heard some ISP's won't accept SMTP from 3rd party apps but no one could say which ones other than Gmail won't work.

I am presently using Fatcow.com for this as I have some control. In the future I plan to put it on THEIR ISP once I can get it to work on mine.

I did a trace and everything looked good until the end. I have the beginning if needed but this is what a call going to Sta 118 looks like just after the calling party ends.

Google will work, but you have to lower the security settings on it.

Posted By: helpifican Re: TVA to email - 02/03/20 02:07 PM
Try in the Google host account, set security to allow less secure apps.

First I would make sure that your usernames and passwords are correct. then I would go to the email setting and have it send a test message. That way you can troubleshoot faster.

Check your ssl settings. You might need to refer to fatcow's knowledge base. https://www.fatcow.com/help/article/email-client-setup

I checked all setting and they seem to match.
I can enter the Fatcow account to send and receive and the settings appear to be the same on the TVA.

I hated to show so much here, but this is only a test account to be deleted and I'm changing the PW as this posts..

Is there anything to be gained from the errorcode?

This may be stupid or the oddest solution, but drop into cmd and ping smtp.fatcow.com to get the IP address of
65.254.248.100 Put that in place of the named SMTP server.

Hi Carl,

From the location I pinged 65.254.248.100 fine.

I changed the SMTP setting from fatcow to that IP but the failure is the same.

PS. your signature is great! Do you click your heels to get there too? thumbsup

Hi OBT & helpifican

The 3rd party app allowance for the receiving party was already enabled.

Posted By: OBT Re: TVA to email - 02/06/20 10:27 PM
If you setup this account on a email client. Does it work ok
Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/07/20 09:02 AM
Yes. From a pc email client it can send and receive on both the account I gave the TVA as well as the account it should send to.
Posted By: Carl Navarro Re: TVA to email - 02/07/20 02:23 PM
Hmm. If nothing works, it sounds broken :-) Did you try some of the other ports like 587 or 25?

Just out of curiosity are you sure that your IP settings in the TVA are correct for your network? Because everything looks right. You might try an different port and/or turning off SMTP over SSL.
Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/09/20 02:58 AM
Thanks for hanging in there with me.

I used the static IP that was provided by their IT Dept AND I told them I need exclusion zone around it. From a PC I can ping fine.

I changed to 25 and no SSL
then no authentication
then 587 w/ssl
the 587 wo ssl

If you try to send test email and do a report on it what’s there

Not sure if it’s having issues with the attachment or sending
Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/09/20 09:28 PM
HI OBT,

I posted the trace which has not changed much since I started. It always ends with Major fail and the addresses.

I looked into the reports tab but I'm sorry I'm not sure which one you want.

Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/10/20 08:53 PM
I thought error reports went to the email account I can't get it to send to?
Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/12/20 06:33 PM
Is there a particular report I should be looking at?
Posted By: OBT Re: TVA to email - 02/12/20 09:23 PM
I only have one of the old Tvm with email setup. Left working. I will check the settings on this and post back
Posted By: Daniel Re: TVA to email - 02/13/20 04:25 PM
have you tried these settings on either a different TVA, or moved that TVA to a completely different network. Maybe for some weird reason the ISP or firewall is doing weird things with the TVA.
Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/13/20 07:53 PM
Thanks OBT.

Daniel:
This is my 1st and only TVA to transfer to email. I AM beginning to wonder about site as well as the card though.
Posted By: Not_sirius Re: TVA to email - 02/27/20 06:42 AM
OK....
I guess it musta been sunspots then...................

I had my old friend who does tech support for my distributor login to a PC that I left onsite for access to both the TDA and TVA. It was not official and he was doing it from home in his spare time. 4 days later I got an email from the system with the .WAV file attached.

Ecstatic, I called him. He said it looked good but he changed the SMTP port. This didn't make any sense as I had screenshots of each of the screens. I compared each one and they all matched what now works. AS you can see from above pix I had USED 465 before?

I am befuddled but happy it is now working.

Thanks for you all for your time and assistance. I just wish I knew what had happened. The ONLY out is that they were changing their internet & router during this time although no one said they had any email issues.

Guess this is just another NSTIW events.
