We have a KX-ns700 with several POTS lines, we added a remote location that is using Panasonic IP phones.

We took out a SIP trunk with E911 and registered it to the system.

The goal is to continue having all call go via the POTS lines (which they are) and have only emergency calls via the IP phones go out via the SIP trunk.

Can anyone assist on how we can accomplish this? If need be we can have all emergency calls route on the SIP trunk but push out a different CID based on location.

Thanks!

You can use ars to route the call to a co and only enable it on the ip phones by having them in a separate class of service group.

Depending on the sip carrier you can put clip id on the extension and it will send that number out to whoever it calls, not just 911 calls

Thank you - SIP provider is willing to woks with us :-)

Any guides on how to configure ARS and Service groups? And does that fact that its an emergency number play a role?

You can google the manual, ars is a dial number to route, not for emergency calls but can be programmed to send the numbers out the correct route.

When using it for different areas you will need to use tenants and class of service.

If one site is using one trunk provider to make all calls on, including 911 calls, then that is in a tenant that doesn’t have ars enabled,

If one site has a different line for 911 then it will need ars enabled on its tenant and the dial plan configuration to send 911 on the correct line. It is complex when you have not done it before so if you can send the site clip out on all calls, that should cover you for 911 calls.

Note: I know the USA have a lot stricter emergency policy than we have, so you have to make sure what ever you do is within those policies
