hello guys i have a customer with a partner system with the old processor. its a 3.1 and the vm is a vs4.0. it quit working but and he may want to replace it. my question is the old vm would never take the date off the processor and it didnt have a program to set the date on it. was there a compatability problem. thanks dave

no,not one i've ever had, but you may have had a bad chip on the processor. most of the times a soft reset took care of the problem.

The VS mail uses its first port to communicate with the processor, to get the date, time, and day/night status. Actually, the Partner calls the VS mail on that 1st port to give it the info via mode codes. If you've accidentally programmed an extension into hunt group 7, with an extension number lower than the actual 1st VM port, that communication will be lost.

looks like the best thing to do now is get a replacment vm and see if it will take the date and if not must be the processor. i will give it a reset and check the ports too. thanks dave

Never seen that problem caused by the VM. It always has been either ports not assigned properly or it just needs to be reset.
