Can a Vodavi 2856 system be upgraded to a 4896? If so, what would be required: KSU & Software upgrade? Anything else?

Thanks for the assistance.

The only way to upgrade is to install the the 4896 cabinet. You can use the same phones. Any other misc. equipment will be OK. I am not sure if the 2856's database can be downloaded and then uploaded to the 4896. I will find out and reply tomorrow. If anyone else knows please let us know.

Well, I was told that you cant upload you current database into the bigger system. What makes this an upgrade is the fact that you are installing a bigger KSU.

How much effort to reprogram the KSU. They have a Vodavi AVP 8 port analog Voice Mail system. (Will this also work without losing mailboxes & msgs with the upgrade)? There are 46 digital telephones and 8 analog stations (VM ports)[System "maxed"] 2 DSS consoles (they use 1 digital port each) 16 C.O. Lines(no need to add equipment). How much effort do you think this upgrade would be?

You should not have any problems with the voicemail that I can think of. A good Vodavi tech should be able to set this up without any problems. Are you thinking of setting this up yourself? Programming this system is not bad at all, it can be done through the phone.
