FYI, I spent an entire day today with the PMS people telling me that the ICP wasn't sending any response to their request "are you there". All my programming was correct on the IPocket, switch, COS, 12, 11, 34, etc. I had to DEFAULT the IPocket and re-enter all the programming, and SHAZZAM! Everything worked great! Just a word to the wise. Merry Christmas, All.

use a PMS emulator to verify everything works before you leave. Then you can say I tested it, all is OK on my end.
I have had the Ipockets lockup before but usually a reboot fixes them.

Doesn't sound like western left before it was working. More like a heads up for others to learn from. IMHO

P.S. What is the emulator that you mentioned, and why aren't you offering to share it? Rs-232 testing is fairly simply but when it's converted to telnet on a port it gets a little harder to emulate and/or test.

Mitel has a PMS emulator that they e-mailed to me from Genesis Communications in Memphis. It has saved my butt several times!

without an emulator it is pretty simple - from Mitel Docs plug your laptop into the iPocket and launch you com program (same one you used to program the iPocket) and make sure your com parameters match what you programmed into the iPocket (for example 1200,8,N,1 with not flow control) then to test PMS-PBX interface put on the caps lock and hold down the control key while pressing the F key - then release. this should get you back an RINQ (which is a request for the database swap). If you do not get that you can plug the ethernet cable from Mitel into your ethernet port and using a secure telnet program try the same thing (make sure your TCP/IP settings are on the same network as the mitel) and try the Control F again. If you get the RINQ then you know you have a problem with the iPocket. Once you get the correct response running through the iPocket you can have the PMS company get on that com port that is running the interface and preform the same test.

For VMS just hook up to iPocket and call a room - after the VMS answer just hang up and you shoudl see a Message update string come out on the laptop.
