I am a novice when it comes to the Mitel phone switches. This forum has been really helpful especially the knowledge that Lightninghorse and telephoneguy share!

I have 3 sites with Mitel 3300ICP's in them. The sites are on the WAN via T-1 MPLS. The 3300's are not networked together, so we can not perform 4 digit dialing.

Our 4 digit dial plans are different, so we can network with no problems.

What steps would I take to accomplish this? I know that all 3 are on different firmware revisions. Would that matter?

If too much to post in this forum, is there any Mitel documentation that you could send me the link to?

Thanks again!

I've never trained on the 3300, so I'll be watching this, too. Knee-jerk your will need T1 or PRI connectability, which won't be cheap:(.

First off, they need to be licensed for networking. Next you need to look at the help file about creating a cluster. I would be good if they were all running the same version.

Ditto what John said and if your qoing to create a cluster pay attention to the naming of the elements in the cluster- its a small thing that usually gets overlooked.

Ditto to what Alex said about naming.... If I remember correctly, I believe Mitel recommends to have all units at the same version.

Under_dog- Can you clarify if you want to cluster these controllers or do you just want to do IP networking?

Hi Alex,

I would just like to be able to do 4 digit dialing between the sites over our T1 - MPLS network.

Then you need to make sure you have the IP networking enabled in each controller, and determine if you are going to need compression turned on as well. You then set up the IP trunks to each controller, assign a trunk profile ( has to match each site ) make a IP route and create your ARS to rout over the IP trunks.

Thank you Alex!!

To clarify, I do not need to worry about what version the 3300's are currently at.

I also do not need to cluster the 3300's.

As long as IP networking is enabled on the 3300, I do not need to worry about licensing.

Thank you again for your assistance!! Your wealth of knowledge and your willingness to share that knowledge is much appreciated!!!
