I have a Nortel M7130 with no manual. We have a package through the local phone company that has voice mail. However, it appears we can only put the phones on answer or forward to voice mail. If the phones are in answer mode (turned on by * and a code or turned off by * and another code)then it will ring until answered and will not go to voice mail. If it is in forward to voice mail mode it goes directly to voice mail. There is no inbetween. I would like the phone to ring 4-6 times and then automatically go to voice mail if no one picks up. Can this be done?
Thanks.

It sounds like your Voice Mail is being provided by the phone company. A manual for the phone won't help. You need a manual for your local phone company's voice mail. You might try calling them, or check their website. Good Luck! ------------------ BCM Guy www.BCMguy.com Learn more about the Nortel Networks Business Communications Manager HERE !

Thanks, but I think the problem is that the phone won't go to voice mail automatically after several rings...I've been trying with the phone company, who tells me that the problem is the phone. I can get into voice mail and access all of their options, check messages, customize the greeting, etc. I just can't get the phone to ring over to voice mail unless I put it on forward, which means it goes immediatley to voice mail without giving us the option to pick up the phone.

From what you are describing, BCMGuy is correct. If you were accessing voice mail through the phone (system) then you would be using the Feature button plus a code.
You'll need to see if your telco offers call-forward no answer.

Apologies to BCM guy. Ofcourse as you and ncfphone man already know, you were correct. Your responses gave me the gumption to call tech support at the phone company again and I managed to talk to someone in the right department who could fix the problem. My life is about to get easier! Thanks for the help.
