On a 7.0 XC MICS with 2 PRIs, several stations with programmed dss keys (feature*2...)do not light up when those dss stations are in use. Swapped phones and ports already.

They have 50 or so 7316s and 30 M7310s. It's only happening on two 7310s.

What happens if you change the extension on that dss button? Is it the same extensions on the 2 sets that is not appearing?

We've tried changing extensions and still have the issue. Some extensions are the same and some are different.

Have you physically change extensions or you changed numbers using the same ports? maybe you have bad LCD on that KIM!

It's on the 7310 itself (2 of them). I changed ports and flexed the DNs. The rececptionist has some of the same dss keys that light up when the user is off hook, but these 2 stations don't. The buton do work as intercom keys, but won't light up. (no they're not Ans DNs)

Ok, I rebooted...no effect. DSS keys still will not light up when the user is off hook on 2 phones. They do function as intercomm keys. On other stations they work fine. I'm beginning to think it's another 7.0 glitch.

When you say you "flexed" the DN's. Are you saying you changed the DN's via Feature *2? Or did you do a change DN? I would be curious to know if when you change the DN with a working DN, what happens? Also what happens if you move the set not working to a different port via set relocation, to see what happens?

I actually used "change Dn" in system programming, then moved the jumpers so that the set was functioning on a dfferent physical port, usung the same Dn. then I programmed the DSS keys and they still would not light up when the user is off hook. They would function as intercomm keys.

Do the keys light with different extensions programmed on them?--sounds like you might just have a couple of LCD's not fuctioning on those 2 sets. ICM would work fine even if the LCD's were bad.

Sorry guys, but 7310 DSS buttons DON'T light! I swear, I've had them apart lots of times to clean out 'spilt milk' and there are no led's, lamps or fibre optics in a 7310 to light up those 12 DSS buttons. If you have seen 7310's that light up those buttons, please post a pic! Now, if you are talking about the add-on LCD display, BOBCOMM probably has the right idea. John C.

The only way I know to get them to "light up" is to hook them to 220 vac.....Hignly NOT recommended though...

Hmmm--I made the assumption that Jack was using a programmable button with an LCD beside it or a BLF attached. If not--then try Dave's idea--or maybe a flashlight.

When you say you swapped the phones, did you swap them with known working ones? Did you try replacing them with 7316's? Maybe it's the revision # of those particular 7310's.

I am not using a 7310 BLF, I am talking about the buttons with LCD indicators on the vertical display.
When I took one of the suspect phones to another location the LCD indicator DID "light up". And the new phone DID NOT "light up" in the same location as the old one. Different phone, different port, same DN, same intercomm keys.
I don't think I tried programming a differnt extension on the key yet, I will next time I go there.
Also I'll try a 7316 and take note of the ver of 7310 and try a different revision.
Thanks....I'll let you know

Just curious---are there any buttons programmed as DSS on these 2 phones that DO light when the associated set is in use?

No Dss keys light up. No matter the extension programmed on it.
I tried a 7310 revision 10c, 15A, and 19A. None worked.
A 7316 (non-E) WILL work! (but the host company doesn't want to buy the tennant new phones....they gave them their recycled old ones)
I've been told from one tech supprt source that with 7.0 xc, 7310's must be version 18 or higher to work. This info came from Nortel directly to him. How ever, then my Version 19a should have worked, but it didn't.
Now I don't think even an upgrade to 7.1 will fix it.
Any more ideas?

Let's look at it in a dollar & cents perpective....how much more for 2 new phones than your time? If it was me, they'd be given some choices: Spend the buck for 2 new phones, spend the bucks for my time or the ever popular take it or leave it.

Ah, (The lite comes on!) you mean the little pointer/triangle LCD's in the vertical display below the horizontal display! I'm gonna reach back here, I have had all sorts of weird problems on 7310 phones cured by reversing, actually correcting as it turned out, tip and ring. They will normally run turned over with no problem, but.... John C.

Mooretel: Well, of course that makes sense, however it's hit and miss with those recycled 7310's...Some work and some don't. It's not just the 2 I mentioned. Those are just the ones that really need the DSS function. And of course we have the grey area of us providing the ksu, sw, 7316s, and other hardware and the custmer using his old phones with it. The compatibility issue was unforseen. And frankly, what I've experienced is in conflict with the compatibility theory of 7310s having to be rev 18 or up.

nope.
I went there before hours to move 2 phones that work where they are to the two places that they need them to work at, then re-boot with these phones (19A's) in their place. They worked for a while, then stopped. :bang: :bang:
I wonder if it's a compatability issue with the version of 0x16 AND the 7310 version AND the 7.0xc
ARGHHHH!

Something to consider. Different brand, same type of problem. BAD POWER SUPPLY! Hours spent on this before the light went on in my head and then the phones when I changed the P/S! 0X16 has it's own P/S so if you can lay your hands on another 0X16, swap them and see what happens. And no matter what the cure is, I, and probably everyone else following this thread, want to know what fixed it. John C.

Honestly, I think my boss is planning on giving them an upgrade to 7.1 just based on 7.0's glitchy reputaion. If that doesn't fix it, then they will have to buy new phones, or live with it. These were their recycled 7310's to begin with. All the 7316s we sold them work fine.
Still it bugs me.......

I can relate to the 'bugs me'. I still think about a system that beat me down. Not a N/T. Customer was actually pleased, it started acting up after THOR strolled thru the area, and he got the insurance co. to kick in serious cash to help replace his 10 (TEN) year old system. After I had replaced everything but the cabinet screws! John C.
