I need to split the Fax line at the Bix block so that I can add an outlet for a DSL Modem in a different location. I don't want to mess up the existing wiring but this is something that I will be doing quite a bit in the future and I want to know how to do it properly. I have the proper Bix Punchdown Tool.
I am new at working with Telco equipment but I have been working with Data networks for years.

Best to replace the cross-connect.
Install jumper from Demarc to fax pins on the BIX, turn black dial on BIX tool half turn so it does not cut, punch cross connect to fax pins, continue cross-connect to DSL pins on BIX and punch down in cut mode.

Remember to put a DSL filter between jack and fax machine.

The Daisy Chain method is whatyou are explaining correct?
I will definetly put a filter on the line going to the fax machine.
