Amigo/Amigas,

I am attempting to attach the SMDR port of my KXT336 switch to a PC running hyperterm. Would anyone happen to know:

1. If a simple Null Modem cable (9 to 25 PIN RS232C)will do the job.

2 What the correct ports settings (9-8-N-1 & flow)should be set to for optimal performance on the switch?

Thanks in advance. I hope everyone is having a good week.

-Dave

I have already enabled SMDR and it's port functions

Have you tried plugging the null modem in? If you get some jebberish out the comm speed is wrong
There is programming to setup to the port parameters

not yet. Before I started purchasing cables, I wanted to see if I could get clarification on the connectors needed.

Thanks -

Davedel:

Please PM me tomorrow (Monday) and I will give you the pinout wiring required for this. I don't have the information here at this time. You can make a custom cable or use adapters to configure a standard telephone line cord to do the job.

OK: Here's the wiring for 25 pin connectors:

Pin 1 at KSU to pin 1 on printer;
Pin 2 at KSU to pin 3 on printer;
Pin 3 at KSU to pin 2 on printer;
Pin 6 at KSU to pin 20 on printer;
Pin 7 at KSU to pin 7 on printer;
Pin 20 at KSU to pins 5,6 & 8 on printer

The bottom serial connector on the KSU is dedicated for SMDR use only.
