I use a KX DT1232 with 7400 series handsets. I want to add a cordless phone (analog Siemens GigaSet) to the XDP port.

I was hoping that in it's default configuration it would be a true parallel, including the ring. It is parallel but no ring. Did I miss a configuration or do I have to split the extension?

True parallel is preferred in this case so that I don't have to worry about forwarding my calls, etc.

intercom 391 parallel on. 390 off.
will ring for CO calls and intercom calls.
Intercom calls ring if Auto Answer is off.
This assumes that XDP port is off in system program,
if on it is a separate extension number.
This is for a KXTD1232 US version.

I'll try that in the morning. XDP is definitely off. Hopefully US and CAN models are the same.

Can I program this from the handset/program mode or do I have to use the archaic Panasonic DOS software?
I also have the Programator from pbxsoftware available.

Sorry to be a pain, but since the 1232 has been really good and trouble-free I only dig in there when I want to try something new.

don't enter program mode. Just press Intercom button then dial 391.

Why do I always assume the most difficult. Late night maybe.
