I just wanted to check before making any assumptions. My customer has a dual cabinet 128 running SB 6.05C that had the power to his building cut for quite a few hours on a Saturday. When power came back on, the phones didn't. I went onsite to find all the card LEDs lit up OK, but the MPD was softly clicking at regular intervals. There is no display on the sets, I can't talk to it through the serial port, and when I call the lead number, all LEDs on all cards will go out momentarily, then come back on. This repeats if I let it ring additional times. I'm thinking MPD. All in favor say "Aye" or else a suggested next step?

I would unplug every card in the the system then just plug the mpd card in. See if get the same result or if you can connect to system. If you can, then plug each card one at a time and see witch card is killing the system.

All Telephone Systems now a days should be put on some kind on UPS. Make sure that the system is on one or sell one to your customer.

I thought about trying that, but I wasn't sure what the system needed as bare essentials to run. The system is on a backup (CyberPower 1500VA), but they must have cut the power in the morning, or Friday after 5, because the servers were all off too, and they were all on big backups. Anyway, I'll try that first thing, before I connect a temporary norstar to get them by till I figure this out.

Thanks!

OK, I returned this morning and pulled all cards but the MPD, and it is still clicking and I can't talk to it. I've set them up with a small Norstar to get them by. The card is silkscreened 76-210-1300 with Rel. D5.

How critical is the matching of this card, and is the D5 the "Style" code?

Try defaulting the systm if that doesn't work then as test-ok says you need to replace the MPD card problably. I would also purchased the memory cart. With your purchase. I have seen the memory cart just go bad but buy both.

You said there's no displays on any of the phones..what are the phones doing..as in are the lights scrolling?
I mentioned this because if the only thing that happened was a long power outage and nothing else..and the system didn't come back up..it may already be in default mode..if the battery on the memory mod went south.
Do you have the programming manual? (the default procedure is in there)

What do you get when you try and talk to the system with your programming terminal?

I can't talk to it. 4800 gives me nothing, 1200 and 9600 give a couple of characters each time the MPD clicks, but no speed gives a prompt.

I have a manual, so I'll go there.
