Hey guys, I just inherited an IT department and the first thing that's killing me here is that the intercom went down. It's patched through the phone system, then to a reciever and I've verified that everything beyond the phone system is working. I've hit the reset buttons inside of the unit and tried the intercom again when it came back up - nothing. Is there anything that I can check, or do? I don't know anything about these systems, as I've been on an NEC Elite IPK system for years. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh -- the grey cable top right is the intercom output. It runs to the reciever. I'm sure that's obvious to most of ya.

Monitor the output from the system and see if the page cable is working. I assume your talking about ext page and not intercom. Also has anyone been messing around with the programming?

Yes, I did mean the external page - pick up the phone, dial XXX and it comes out over loudspeakers in the warehouse and offices. The programming hasn't been touched. I'll check the output from the page cable and see if it's getting that far. Will let ya know! Thanks!

So I checked everything out, and when the ext page is used, I can see the input signal light up on the JWD DA120M Public Address System we use.
Stupid question, the grey cable you see in the picture above - that is going to be input right? It will then patch any input recieved from that grey cable to all phones, right? Or am I totally off and that is the output -- which would mean I'm going backwards here...

The gray cable is the output from the tel switch which goes to the input of your page amp. If it was working and just all of a sudden doesn't then I would look hard at you connections and cables and also look at your volume controls on the page amp to be sure it just didn't get turned down.

Ok, that kind of seals the deal for me. If that's the output from the tel switch, then it's got to be wiring or the page amp has gone bad. All of the inputs are turned up, and when the ext page is used, I do see the signal meter light up and I can somehow hear the persons voice right around the page amp..it may have an internal speaker, not sure ... but that would tell me that the phone system is working okay and passing the signal on to the page amp. I'm sure I'll climb up there and find that a rat has chewed through the cable out in the warehouse.
I really appreciate the help! It's been awhile since I've had to deal with a phone system...hopefully I can find some documentation on this Telrad system and learn it!
