This is an interesting one - CTX 670 at MH227 with and ieS32 VM. The issue is when the MSG light is flashing they press it and get a busy signal, BUT they press the VM button on theor phone and can get to their messages that way. This has happened twice int he last two weeks. The first time it cleared itself up; the second time occured yesterday.

What is the issue here?

Are you sure the message light was set by the VM... I know with the DK's you can set it from another phone.
Probably a dumb question, i'm just looking at it from a different angle.

No, it was definitley set by VM as I have the internal messaging feature turned off. I just talked to my contact and the MSG lights are working fine today so it is definitly something fluky and weird!

Any other suggestions?

How many mailbox users?
How many voice mail ports?
Is it front-ended(AA)?
Is there a back-door number?
You should be able to determine by the iES32 if there were times all ports were busy.
I'll assume your Vm is SMDI.
Is there other App's your using Fax, Unified Messaging, etc.....?

And finally might be a "bug" that has a fix..check with TSD I seem to remember something about softkeys and something stops working.

OR maybe a Fat Finger Mistake/ Operator Error?

Check the 'Display DN' field in program 200 for all vm ports.

To answer the questions:

About 40 users on a 4-port VM
VM used only for backend and at night
Yes, there is a backdoor - primarily for remote programming, but the remote modem isn;t answering right now.
Yes, it is SMDI and no other apps in use.

I will check the display DN..

Display DN is 500, the pilot VM. I also have 500 in the MSG Wait parameter and the VM ID code is populated with each individual VM extension.

I shoudl also note, htis porblem never occurred prior to the VM being replaced several months ago. It has been working fine (except the remote modem) for a couple of months until the last two weeks.

Could it be possible that the voicemail ports are full? With 40 users on a 4 port voicemail, this might be your issue. Also, this could be the reason that your message lights clear up after a while.

A couple times I Netmeeting into the IES32 and checked the Window's Events. A few times I saw hard drive problems before a total crash.

I saw many stange problems before the whole system completely died. I know you just replaced it, but who knows, I saw a failure happen within the first year once.

Are they display phones? Does the display say anything?

I suppose all ports could be busy, but why will the MSG light not work but pressing the VM button allow access?? That is what is perplexing!
