11:44 7/29/08 an official 5.4 earthquake hit Chino Hills about 7-10 miles from my house. No damage just a sick rolling quake, wife went to the grocery store found all kinds of stuff off the shelves & cooler cakes. love it here always something to get excited about YEAH. :toothy:

Chino Hills is about 30 miles fom us in Moreno Valley. The house did a fair amount of rocking, but everything (and everyone) survived.

I'm a bit further North, by about 90 miles. Felt it pretty good while working on the second floor of an old Victorian, it swayed for a few seconds. Felt like a heavy train going by. Some of the transplants were a little freaked out. Just another day in Paradise....

I was working on an ESI in Santa Monica when it started shaking, pretty strong too, everybody that I know was startled but OK. I couldn't make calls on my cell phone for a while probably because of so many people trying to make calls themselves but that was the worst for me. Thanks for the concerns.

We employed Motorola Vanguard 320's at each earthquake sample site and sent data to the host at Cal Tech over Frame Relay. But that was quite a while ago. Phil is long gone (as is Frame Relay), but they continue to work hard to understand this stuff. The epicenter was about nine miles from my house, but we only had a couple of crooked pictures. Ainsley--my precious 7 year old--was the only thing that was truly rattled. We're good.
