I am having a hard time using my Windows XP laptop to connect to a Starplus Digital 2856 using DBA version 1.0E. If I go back to an old Windows 95 laptop, I can connect without problems. Also, using Hyperterminal on the XP machine, I am able to connect without problems. My XP machine has a true serial port on it, and I verified that the resources are even the same (by default) as the old 95 machine.
Does anyone have any ideas that will save me from setting up my laptop to dual-boot?
Thanks!
Justin

Justin,
I wish I could help you, but it has been a long time since I've tried to program a Starplus Digital system with WinDBA. It may just be a compatibility issue. The newest WinDBA that I can find is 3.5 and it was released in 2001.
Was v.1 a DOS program?
You may just consider programming with Hyperterminal or a phone. You'll still be able to backup everything with Hyperterm.

Yes, it was a DOS program.
I got it to work using a DOS emulator program called DOS Box. After a little configuration to get the emulator to use my serial port, it seemed to fix the problem. No dual-boot necessary in this case.
