Although I've been in computer systems for several years, I am a novice to phone systems. My partner has a Vodavi StarPlus STS system. I'm not sure which 'model' but it was installed around 2004. There are 2 issues:

#1. The DND light is illuminated on the auto attendant station (station 100). When I press it once, it flashes. When I press it twice it extiguishes. The problem is that when DND is turned off or is flashing, all incoming calls go to directly to the Auto Attendant. I've tried 'resetting' the station, but the it seems that I'm just not understanding the lingo of the manual.

#2. A caller is only allowed about 7 seconds to leave a message.

I have (accidentally) reset the voice mail system, but have since completed reprogramming it, and have tried 'resetting' the system by powering it off for a couple of minutes and powering it back on.

These issues have manifested themselves just in the last few days and at about the same time, so I don't know if they are related, or it's just coincidence that they have become evident at the same time.

I'd be willing to compensate for any help that someone can give. If no one is willing to provide some information, I would appreciate a recommendation for a company in my area to come out and fix the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The operator station does not really have DND. The DND key is the day, night, special ring mode switch so to speak. The button changes the CO ringing depending on how each line is programmed to ring when the system in put into one of the modes. It sounds like you could use a visit from a reputable dealer. Try the Vodavi.com website and use the dealer locater.

I was hoping that since this was a long weekend, that there would be some simple tips or things to look for. Particularly w/ the voice mail issue. I can live w/ the 'DND' light for now.

If the VM was defaulted you should have more than 7 seconds to leave a message. Which VM and is it all mailboxes?

I'm not sure how to tell which VM it is. Is there an easy way to tell? If it's not that easy, I'll just wait until Tuesday (i doubt anyone will be open on Monday).

It seems to be all the mailboxes...I'll check them all though. The console says that I have 171 minutes left on the entire system, but when I call to leave a test message i only get about 7 seconds into leaving a message before the attendant says "message delivered"...
