Two XTS networked together via a point-to-point T1. Nealy every Monday morning since the node went live in December, they can't call system to system.

In order to get both PRI cards talking to one another, their IT guy unplugs the cable to the card at the hub, and plugs it back in.

Everything is fine, no T1 errors collected in >maint all week. We had their service provider check the circuit (standard 1's 0's quasi test) - no problems.

Not sure if something is happening over the weekends there, but seems to be every Monday morning...

Any ideas?

Is this a full PRI between sites or fractional? The reason I ask is that we have a similar setup here but the PRI is fractional and most of the bandwidth is used for data. We are breaking this out by using Adtran TSU120's at each end. For whatever reason, if either site loses power, the voice portion is lost but the data portion remains fully intact.

In our case, we are able to call in remotely and restart one of the cards (almost always at the node site) through the CONFIG utility.

We have removed the Adtran units and forced an outage test. In those instances, both systems come back up just fine on the voice side.

We are contemplating changing the clustering of the PRI channels for voice. Since clusters are technically in groups of four channels, our current arrangement of six channels appears to be our culprit.

Is this situation similar to yours?

Its a full PRI between both switches with Adtran ACE CSU at both ends. Its fine all week long, no errors, then Monday morning its OOS and one of the IT staff at the hub XTS unplugs/plugs the patch cable to the PRI card to restore it into service.

I wonder if someone is shutting off all the circuit breakers at the node XTS at the end of the day Friday and for some reason the PRI is not re-establishing its D Channel when powered up on Monday.

I'm going out there tomorrow, will see if I can get some more details....

Sounds like a Telco problem to me.

I agree, but how do I prove it? I already had Telco check their end which consisted of nothing more than the usual loopback tests which ran error-free so they just point the finger of blame right back at me.

I had seen exactly what Ed had described on one of our PRI networked sites. We had UPS on both systems and it seemed like a power outage was what caused it. We put UPS on each Adtran unit. As Ed said the data would come back up and be fine but we have not had in issue in over a year at this site. *KNOCK ON WOOD*

Is the card showing OOS when you look at in congfig? Do have the flash 09 setting for the OOS card set up to reset itself as well as the restart PRI trunk in Flash 41(I think that is where its at?)?

I set the OOS card reset timer in both switches. I'll see what happens and post the results later.
