I have a customer with a DHS-L. They want several phones to have 7 digit dialing only. When I change the COS from 0 to anything, 1-7, I can't dial out at all. How can this be setup for local only?

You have to modify the restriction data table. Cos 0 allows all digits from 0 to 9 to be dialed. Cos 1 to 7 don't allow any. So you have ot modify the cos to Allow (Y) digits 2 to 9 which knocks off the 1 plus dialing. This allows any number to be dialed as long as the first digit is 2-9

I found out the TELCO provider does NOT require dialing (1) first for long distance.Dial area code plus 7 digit number. I need to be able to restrict the COS to 7 digits only. Is this possible?

It can be done but you would have to list every seven didgit number that is allowed and you only have 100 table bins. There are no wildcard digits.

the TELCO provider does NOT require dialing (1) first for long distance Just when I thought the North American dialing plan was set in stone, this TelCo makes their own rules? Must be a cable company or an upstart with a soft switch. Could a complaint be registered with the FCC? This sounds like a scheme by the provider to make old systems obsolete in order to sell a hosted service or something.

What happens when the whole country goes to ten digit local dialing cause we are running out of subscriber numbers?
