I've been looking at these a little bit online, has anyone installed any of these? Any problems with them? Price wise, seems like a really good price for a small system.

Great systems - very reliable. However, the sets have a cheap feel about them.
You should look at the DSX series, which has succeeded the DS series. The sets have a great look and feel to them.
Check them out at www.necdsx.com

Very similar systems, but BillyBob is right. The DSX is just a better-looking system all around. Once there are a few more updates released to smooth out some of the bumps, it's going to be hard to beat for the price. As a matter of fact, it already is smile

Do they use a standard male or female amphenol cable to connect to them or modular plugs?

dsx80/160 uses rj61x for stations and lines and so does ds2000. DSX also uses 1/8" mono plugs for page ,MOH,etc but not on the ds2000.

dsx40 isn't out yet but I think it will also use rj61x too!

ds1000 uses 25pr Amphenol for stations and rj25 for lines and page ,MOH,etc.

These are great little phone switches!

easy to sell
easy to install
easy to use

what more could you ask for?

While we are on the subject, an RJ11 is a one line jack, RJ14 is a two line jack and an RJ61X is a four-line jack. I should leave that subject alone for now.

Seriously, does the DSX series really use RJ61X-type connections, as in 8P8C modular jacks for lines and stations? If so, is it four stations or lines per jack on the KSU or is it like Partner and Merlin systems where there is one 8P8C jack per station? This has my curiosity going now.

By the way CLGJR, I like that slogan of yours. May I borrow it for use at my office?

Affirmative, that's four ports per jack!
