Hi Guys & Gals,
I just got a new customer with an NEC system. Most of my customers use Comdial so this is new stuff for me. From the research I have done it looks like you do all of the programming from the phone? Does anyone have a good cheat guide for programming new lines and adding extensions to this system? Also how does the voice mail work?
There is only one card in the chasis. It had two different numbers on it. They are 7501509 & 104153808. I am confused on how this card works with the wiring. It is a 25 pair cable punched down to a 66 block. I would think the phone lines coming in would come in on the first lines of the block, but that isn't the case. Can someone help me figure this system out so I can add another incoming line and 2 more extension?
Thanks.............Dan

What kind of documentation do you have?? The Elite 48 is a fully-featured system that has: 1. 105 page Description manual 2. 259 page Hardware Manual 3. 557 page Programming Manual
The point is---you are going to have to make some kind of commitment to this product if you're going to support it. It's nothing to take lightly.
We have two Elite 48s in our shop (one with VM) and have an opportunity to service/maintain some customers---but we don't because we just don't have the time to learn what we have to--in order to take care business.
The VM is programmed using CoSessions software from a laptop.
By choice, we don't know this system very well---perhaps someone else on this board can get you a "cheat sheet" --but this is not an easy system to learn if you don't have the time to fool around with it and to get solid documentation. Good luck

I made an Install & most common programs cheet sheet for a friend, I'll see if I can dig it up.
As far as the wiring goes... the Elite 48 comes with 8 digital ports built into the backplane. These would break out on the first 8 pairs of the 1st (or only) 25pair. Slot 02 on the cabinet is reserved for use by 1 particular card (MIF-X) and so I would assume the card in slot 03 is the trunk card (a coi 4 or 8) which would be the next 8 pairs on the 25 pair.
I am extremely familiar with this system so ask away!

Thanks for the info.
But when I traced out the pairs. His analog lines were not on the first pais of the 25 pair cable. They were towards the bottom of the block. The top pairs of the block had the phones connected to them.
Thanks........Dan
