Hi, I'm having issues with the Music On Hold with my company's NEC Electra Elite IPK phone system. Music On Hold is enable and is hook up to a CD player. The music worked, but noticed the music keep cutting out when you are put on hold. What's strange is that the music sounds fine when played over the station console(phone). I swapped out the cd player and try playing the music using a computer, but the same thing happen. What do you think is the problem?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you call in on your cell phone and they put you on hold your cell phone will distort the MOH. Also calls coming in and going out over a PRI will also distort your MOH

Thanks for replying to my post, dans.

Ok. that's lame.Considering most incoming calls are from cell phones and PRI. How do I fix this? This might be a stupid assumption...but is it because of digital signal that is produced by these type of connection?

Thanks.

Frequency range of the audio you are receiving.
Nature of the beast.I don't think you can do anything about it.

Thanks STS E.

Anyone has a workaround solution beside using the default system music?

Hello shrcp, The IPK uses 600 ohm input for the MOH. If your using an 8 or 16 ohm MOH device there will be distortion. Some people can live with it and others, no way. The CD Player is probably 8 ohm.

Hope that helps!

dans is correct - callers from a cell phone will hear distored MOH. The CODECS used by cellular companies clip frequencies outside the normal speach spectrum.
