I'd just use LINUX and install a FTP server extension.

We use Serv-U for FTP. Works great, allows multiple user ID's, lots of configuration options. For TFTP, we use the utility that Adtran ships on CD with their IAD's.

I'm with topher, Linux rocks. Pentium 200 with 128 meg runs web, mail, ftp, Winblows filesharing, and a few other things just fine, and never crashes.

Yep, linux is pretty good junkman. I have a complete server install set for RedHat GUI... Can't get any server on redhat to run LOL but my ubuntu works great.

I've never used redhat, I use Slackware for servers and Suse for workstations.
Since Darrell found a solution, let's close this topic.

Actually, I've found that FreeBSD with the ProFTPD daemon is a potent (and very secure and stable) combo. Been using it ever since I set up our big archive. No difficulties at all (outside of those I caused myself while learning the thing).
Keep the peace(es).

I use filezilla as a client for some websites that I manage with great success. There is also a server function / version that I have not used, I suspect that it is also great software. Filezilla is open source software. Jeff

Power Desk Pro has a built in FTP client..The whole software is basically an enhanced windows explorer with some added features. Not too expensive and worth the investment I think.

https://www.anomic.de/AnomicFTPServer/ AnomicFTPD: A freeware FTP Server in Java This is an enterprise-suited, RFC959 compliant terminal-based ftpd server in Java. It is a 'full' server that implements it's own user and group management for operation systems that do not support such and is also the ideal solution to exchange files between systems with different OS.
