We installed the DST patch last year to all our pcs and servers when it initially came out. We know that KB933360 is available to add another 5 timezones information, but aside from that does it offer any other benefit? My boss seems to be under the impression that if we don't apply the new patch the DST won't be adjusted this weekend.
Only reason this is a concern is we have 3 W2K3 EE boxes w/ Exchange 2K3 w/ SP1 that we've gone to great lengths to not install SP1 or SP2 on (we've selectively applied patches that were needed). To apply the update we'd have to go to SP1. Not that we didn't plan on it eventually, just would rather do it on our schedule than be forced to do it in the next 2 days. Any input would help greatly.

MS also released a Timezone editor, which allows you to make the corrections in the registry information by hand. This is the only way to do it on Win2k, but it works the same on just about all versions.. maybe not Vista though.

Thanks. We only have 1 2K server remaining and was wondering how to go about updating that machine. Actually upgraded the Exchange servers this morning and patched them w/ the December update.

The Windows time service (w32time) on the member servers should sync automatically to the DC. The DC can be configured to sync to an external time source. We use time.cachenetworks.com, though any public time server should do.
I think you can enter this server in the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters
Anyway, its been a while but I believe we just let the DC sync happen from the public time server and then the rest of the member servers synced from that. I guess I'll see on Monday :-).

Agreed about the servers getting their time from the DC's; my boss just wanted all the servers to be at the same patch level despite that fact.
Only issue right now w/ patching all of the servers seems to be w/ Veritas and Exchange but trying to get that sorted out. Thanks.
