Hi
What is the best (most economical) way to feed PRI into a T1 channel bank. I wish the CAS channel bank supported PRI but it doesnt. It only has 24 FXS ports and expects T1 NI. I realize that I will only use 23 FXS ports but that is the lesser problem, the question is how can I map those 23B to 23 T1 channels so that I can use the bank with PRI service?

If you have ordered a PRI from telco switch to your switch, you'll have to reorder, you can't put a PRI into a channel bank.

We use an Adtran Atlas 550 for PRI to T1 conversions.

Pricey. You would be better off getting rid of the PRI software that rides that T1.

Do you just pick few channels for outgoing and few for incoming staticaly? I know the PRI is bi-directional on all channels so I would like to see a working config if you dont mind sharing yours. Also is the official name of the CAS T1 signalling a "robbed bit" T1? Thanks so much for your post! ~B

Thanks clanier, could you post the config of your 550. Would have to go to a customer's site to get that. Adtran Tech Support is very good and can help you with design and setup. Originally posted by OhioTelecom: silly question, but if ya want to convert a PRI to a T1...ummm why not just get a T1? Price? I have seen PRI pricing at sometimes 1/2 the cost of T1's when you sign a long term contract with the LEC's. And since some systems can't be upgraded for PRI or are expensive to upgrade, the Adtran is a viable solution.

Technically,using lucent's max 3000, or max 6000, you could implement PRI<=>T1 CAS.

Also what is the CAS T1 signalling that exists your lucent's max 3000 device? Is it robbed bit? Thanks for posting Boyan
