Hi first time poster, got a wierd problem: SL daughter board in 12 button set, all programming is correct etc. ANS Machine will not recognize incoming ring UNLESS I have a Buttset plugged into phone port on the ans machine, tried 2 other single line phones that were avaiable onsite, didn't work. anyone have a clue?

I'm not a Samsung tech but I can tell you that a Butt set is not a valid test for ring current. I've seen lines direct from telco that would "ring" a butt set and not a phone. If I were to take a guess I'd say the daughter board is not passing proper ring current. mark

Sounds like you have a digital answer machine.

And the fact that the answering machine answers a pots line could be a clue.Maybe the ring signal generated from the daughterboard card isn't good enough for the ans. machine by itself.Maybe the butt set also being on the circuit gives it enough of a load to the sli?

It only picks up when a butt set is on line? If so, try wiring a capacitor accross it, like one from an old 2500 set. It may just need the capacitance.
