I know that 735 is for 300' or less runs while 234 is for 300'+ runs. I didnt take note as to what type existed but will know whithin the next hour. I realized I am 30' short.

Can I splice the existing cable with BNC barrels? Can the two types of cable be spliced together via the BNC barrel? Last, what happens if you use RG6 or RG59 terminated onto BNC's?

JOB: relocating DS3 from 7th floor to 5th floor but the new comm room on 5 is further. I plan to leave the splice in the riser on 5.

Thanks alot guys,
MO

RG59 is OK for very short runs, as in 75 feet or so. Yes, you can connect two pieces of 734/735 cable using BNC connectors and barrels. Both cables need to be spliced the same way at the same location.

It's preferred that you don't splice these cables, but if done properly, there won't be any noticeable loss or degredation.

Thanks, this is all short noticed as we just realized the cable might be short. I may not have access to 734 or 735 cable today so can I use RG6 or RG59 from the splice in the riser to the new IDF?

The move starts at 4pm PST so I have a few hours to get what I need.
