I'm trying to figure out what the Ext/ID column does on the DID Programming Screen (From Main Menu --> Y --> A)

My default value is 400 within the Weekday column. Some have a 4 digit extension and others have a 2 or 3 digit number (not a valid extension number).

This value only seems to come into play after the switchboard closes at the end of the day. During the day, when someone calls into the PBX, the DID Translations tell it to ring to the switchboard operator. At 5:00 the switchboard closes, the PBX is set to night mode and the inbound calls should ring to the tenant suite, then to VM if they do not pick up.

For the DIDs that have a 2-3 digit Ext/ID other than 400, all works, and the tenants phone rings after-hours.

I have added some new extensions to the PBX, but do not understand how to use the Ext/ID column to send the inbound call to the correct extension and VM after-hours. I have tried random 2-3 digit numbers in the Ext/ID column, but they end up in someone’s VM box (if they don’t answer).

So, where the heck is the translation table between the Ext/ID column numbers and the extension/VM extension?

I’m I missing anything else in this scenario when it comes to creating a new extension.

You are in the right place, Note at the top of the screen " Ext/ID "

the numbers on the left hand side of the screen are the Digits Received from the phone co. EXT is the 4 digit ext number of where You want it to go, ID is the Line ID of the phone System , I think You have a 648 system? then You could send the Digits to some Phantom Line ID's to do different things

There is a LOT more to this.. when Changing ringing etc.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

nonameyet is correct, there is a lot to it.
this a very powerful area of programming.
It is also the area where I have the most fun in manipulating call routing. e-mail me and I will try to help. I can let you dial in to my lab and experiment.

do you know the list commands? try:
L DR 400
L NR 400
(LIST DAYRING LINEID400)
or go to the known destination and check
STA LID400: DR = Y/N, NR = Y/N

Okay guys, I'm back after the weekend. Can you tell me what the email address is for the notification? (I think they were eaten by my spam filter and I need to set an exclude)

Yes, I have a 648 system, with 4 digit extensions.

Nonameyet:
How do I set up these Phantom Line IDs? Where do I find the next available one, and/or list all of them currently in use?

HuberTex:
Thanks for the info on the List Command. That is what I expected to see. However, I do not understand how to set them up. This part I was confused on:
or go to the known destination and check
STA LID400: DR = Y/N, NR = Y/N

I don’t have a station 400 (as I have 4 digit extensions). So, I’m missing something here.

I know that in the end I want day ringing to go to ext 4277 and night ring to go to ext 4370. 4277 is the switchboard and 4370 is the tenant. In night mode it should ring to the tenant ext first, then go to VM if no answer.

Thanks again guys.

I always try to match the dnis with the ext # when ever possible. If not rather than point dnis to an ext point it to a line id.(that is what the 400 you are seeing is). Then make that line id ring on the desired ext #.

I'm STILL not getting it. I see Line IDs all over the different screens. I tired the list commands, but could not find out how to populate the data that I was viewing.

If I go to screen A for station programming, and bring up ext. 4370, I see a line ID of 001. But all of the stations have Line ID 001, so that must not be the correct place.

Oh I hate it when the phone system wins. And I hate it worse when I'm not sure what I should search for to reseach it.
