So I've decided to see what this whole VOIP thing is about. I'm experimenting with Asterisk, and I want to test a few different IP based sets.
Has anyone had any experience with the Mitel 5xxx series IP sets on Asterisk. Since it supports SIP natively, I see no reason there should be any problem.....and you can never go wrong with Mitel.

Should be able to do it - there's a web site called voip-info.org that has a lot of reference material for various phones/hardware and Asterisk (actually a lot of Asterisk documentation in general)... This should give you a good start... https://asterisk.pbx.in/voip-info/wiki/view/Mitel+Phones.html
