My buried cable replacement project is quickly turning into the project from hell!

What recommendations does anyone have for a buried cable splice kit? 25 pair, 22 gauge filled cable.

The last time I did this was _many_ years ago with GTE. I'm sure the products have changed a little by now.

Thanks again.
Jim

Jim:

3M's Better Buried closure kits are probably as good as you will find. Their BB2X24 will handle your application, but you'll need to order encapsulant as a separate item.

If you want an all-in-one kit, the second best option is their 8983-4462. It allows a splice up to 50 pair and includes the encapsulant in bags.

Thanks Ed. I ordered the BB2X24 today, along with encapsulant.

We use Raychem XAGA buried Splice closure systems. They are a bit tedious to install but I have yet to see one leak.

As Ed said.

!!!!Trust me!!!! If they pulled up the underground with a backhoe you will need two splice kits.

Then start hand digging.

What happens on a dig up wreaks pairs in both directions. Each mess needs to cut back to be evaluated.
