I just got an order to install new circuits for a new E911 center in our area. I have orders to install two EM trunks and two ALI circuits. The orders that I received (which are from Qwest) do not say how to terminate the circuits, and I have never installed either of these types of circuits before. How are EM trunks normally terminated at the customer location, as well as the ALI circuits? Or do I simply notify Qwest on how they should be terminated? I was told that the two ALI circuits are 4 wire circuits and the 2 EM trunks are 2 wire circuits. The ALI ckt's have a service code of UGXZ on them, and I am thinking they are terminated like a 56k circuit, but am not sure.

I am sure that by now you have this resolved. I did this for Qwest for 25yrs and your ALI trunks should have come in as a 4-wire off an NIU card with a jack for you to use on the customer side. The EM trunks should have come in on their own and laid down in your wire field for the E911 system. Is this a Positron E-911 setup, I maintained 19 Positron sites in my last years as a qwest Tech. Loved it.

I did get this up and going. Even though Qwest is labeling these 911 trunks as EM trunks, the engineer I spoke w/ at Qwest told me that they really aren't E&M trunks at all. In fact, they operate more like a DID he told me. They are handed off to us in our channel bank and terminate on DPT cards. Then we simply hand them off to the E911 center on a 66 block.

The ALI circuits also come into our channel bank and come thru 4-wire cards on the channel bank and terminate on DST cards at the E911 center.

Why Qwest is still using analog circuits for this setup is beyond me, but it is working. The setup is a Zetron setup.
