Hey guys-
I have a Cortelco 2500 phone that I took apart a while back to clean. When I tried to put it back together, the 2 plastic posts on top of the hookswitch would not come out of the base anymore. Is there a way to fix this?
I can take a picture if it helps.
Thanks!
Jeff

A picture might help...or a mechanically-inclined friend.

Was this the one that you painted orange?

No, this is not the one I painted...same kind of phone though, just a basic 2500 set.

Jeff:

Some of the clear plunger buttons have a flat edge on the bottom lip that keeps them from being able to be pulled out of the phone. This edge prohibits them from rotating since it rides up and down along the side wall of the housing. Is it possible that you put them back in without keeping the flat side of the edge against the side wall?

I'm reading this myself and having a hard time understanding what I just tried to say. Just take the plunger button out and look at the end. It should be in the shape of something like the letter "D". If so, just make sure that the straight, or flat part is positioned along the side walls of the wells that hold them.

I understand that the buttons themselves are round, but the lip that keeps them from being pulled out usually isn't. This lip is filed down on one side to keep it from rotating. If the flat edge isn't up against the side wall of the wells, the button will jam.
