(Cross posted to Alarms, Paging)

Good morning ~

We are using the MOH/Paging module as part of our Mitel 2000SX Light system to provide paging.

We have 100+ buildings that could potentially need speakers (1 for most, 2 for some) and hope to use newly installed phone pair to take the signal from two different demarc points to the various buildings.

Can anyone recommend a particular amp/speaker setup for this? Any advice would be most welcome!

Thanks,
Jeff

Talked to a friend of mine who works at a college and has done a ton of paging stuff throughout his career. He suggests using a single 600 Watt amplifier with a 70v output. Then using 4 watt speakers that have a 70v hook-up on the speaker. He uses Bogens and says on them the black and yellow leads are the 70v activation.

Hope that helps.

100+ buildings sounds like a central 70 volt system will be out of the question. My suggestion would be to use Valcom's family of distributed amplifier speakers and adapters for this installation. You can call their design engineers at 540-427-3900 or go to www.Valcom.com to get better information.

Only problem with the amplified speaker system that I see is if you do not have access to pwer in the speaker locations. If there is an IDF in each building with power available there it might work - otherwise it may be difficult to push the 24 volts over that amount of distance. As I said, my friend has something like this working at his campus. If you have multiple speaker in a building they could be hooked up in series.

OK, this is yet another reason why the same question shouldn't be posted in two separate categories. Here we are answering the same question in two separate places.

I'm going to lock and close this thread. I'll move everything where it belongs.
