I am working with some Executone ECX21 phones.
How do you normally go about bench testing theses?
Can it be done without a control unit?

Thanks

I wouldn't think you could test them without a KSU.

That phone is not a stand-alone phone. You might say that part of the phone is in the KSU and the line cord is the bus that connects both parts together.

That's pretty much what I figured. Apparently
places who repair or refurbish them must have
a control unit they use to plug them into for
testing once they are finished working on them.

Hey I can get you one for cheap... Most of the problems with the Ecx phones are dirty volume controls (clean with tuner cleaner/lube or WD40 and dial pads, cords and handsets wear out and have to be replaced.

Thank for the reply,
Based on the complaint I'm getting with
these - the items you listed are most likely
going to end up being the source of the trouble.
On one of the phones the carbon element on the
volume control is pretty much wasted so its going to need replaced. As for the rest of them I will clean them with Caig DeOxit along with some fader lube. I'm not too keen using WD40 on carbon based pots.
