Just installed a x-blue networks, 45p digital system in a welding shop?
Every time they strick a arc with the Heli-arc welder the system goes crazy...All speakers come on, starts humming, the paging spekers in shop hum..
You can turn system off and bac on and works till the next welding starts..Any ideas of solving this problem ??

What did they have before and did they have any problems? Where is the KSU in reference to power/welder? Is it being induced into the system from a phone close to the welder? How do you have the 45P grounded? Is the 45P on it's own power circuit?

I removed a vodavi 616 system.. They wanted to up grade to new telephones.. No problem with it..
This one is all digital if that is a problem.
The ktu is upstairs in closet, the welder is down about 60; feet.. I probably need a earth groud.. by itself?? No it is not a dedicated circuit..

I wouldn't ground the KSU different than other grounds in the building. I think with that distance it's not coming from the KSU itself but being induced through cabling or a digital phone. You're just going to have to go through the process of elimination. I'm betting some cabling close to the welder or dirty power.

Probably dirty power no cable next to welder that I know of..
When they weld outside it does not do it... But some how the software is picking it up and locking the ksu up.. I am going to try the process of elimination,,unplug each phone one at a time..

fordmanf250  to the BB. The digital nature of the X-Blue 45p helps it to NOT pick up noise yet it can induct RF due to the EMF nature of the RFI produced by the arc welding. That being said, have the customer check the electrical ground to the welder. Is it a new piece of equipment? Keep all grounds common. Is the paging system grounded? The process of elimination is the fun part. Good luck and let us know the outcome.  :scratch:

The best way to get rid of interference is at the source. As Ken said make sure the welder is grounded properly, some welders not only have the electrical ground but need a separate case ground. If that does not work then you need to isolate where the noise is coming into the system. Make a short cable and plug one phone directly into the KSU with all other station cables unplugged. If you have the noise at this point it is either entering through the AC power or RFI in the KSU, try going through a UPS or shielding the KSU. If you have a clean signal then plug in the station cable one at a time to see if noise is coming from one or several cables. Try ferrite filters on your cables and make sure there are no loops of extra wire on any of your cable runs. Also check that station cables and welder AC feed are not run close to each other.
