1. Can a bad port cause a display to malfunction? I went to a location today and the display wasn't right so I first unplugged it and plugged it back in and the display didn't function at all. Swapped it with a known working display set and it failed also, Put the known working set back on its original port and it was now garbled. Got still another display set and swapped it with the second set and it worked, but didn't plug it in to the original port for fear of crashing another phone. Is this common?
2. Is there any way to lower the volume of a CD player used for MOH. It is using the line output. Would you suggest a pre-amp or an assortment of resistors to try to lower the input volume of the MOH?
Thanks for any assistance, BobRobert

1. No, never heard of a port taking out a display only. 2. Use the headset jack instead of line out.

you should probably start a new thread for your issue...
what do you mean by 'fuzzy'? and are we talking about inbound or outbound callers?

I just use a rheostat for lowering input volume on moh

I used two 7.5 K Ohm resistors to lower the line output volume of the MOH since this box did not have a headset output. I've still got to replace 2 phones with bad displays and I guess I will probably just swap the port that is killing the displays with an unused port and reprogram the DN, VMID, buttons, etc.
Thanks for the ideas,
BobRobert

Reinitialize the system. Take the phones apart, unplug and replug in the display cable. This should fix everything.
Most STS displays that are garbled are because the display cable isn't making a good connection. LG cheaped out on the ribbon cable and connector.
